Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
“The minister stressed that the propaganda campaign launched by the United States and its allies about the “Russian aggression” against Ukraine pursues provocative goals, encouraging the authorities in Kiev to sabotage the Minsk agreements and harmful attempts to resolve the “Donbas problem” by force,” the publication on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry says.
Lavrov also noted that the reaction of the United States and the European Union to documents on security guarantees ignores key provisions for Russia, primarily on the non-expansion of NATO and the non-deployment of strike weapons systems near Russian borders.
Earlier, Blinken requested a telephone conversation with Lavrov on Saturday. Prior to that, they talked by phone on February 2.
In mid-December last year, the Russian Foreign Ministry published security agreements for the US and NATO. They took into account the concerns of the parties, in particular on the situation in Ukraine. Russia's main conditions are that NATO will not move east and will deny Ukraine membership in the alliance.
