Russia - Border changed between Bryansk and Kaluga regions

Russia (bbabo.net), - The Federation Council approved the change of the border between the Kaluga and Bryansk regions.

It is caused by the need to liquidate the currently existing enclaves, explained Andrei Shevchenko, chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Federal Structure, Regional Policy, Local Self-Government and Northern Affairs.

According to him, this primarily concerns the enclave of the village of Zheltyanka, Khvastovichsky district, Kaluga region, where seven people live. This village is actually separated from the borders of the Kaluga region.

As noted in the legislative assembly of the Kaluga region, the village is connected with the region by a single road. However, this road passes through the territory of the Bryansk region. It is not possible to repair the road, put in order the power transmission line that runs along the road. Changing the boundaries will allow developing this territory, formalizing the rights of municipal property, and maintaining the engineering infrastructure.

- Residents of Zheltyanka understand the need for such a decision and are waiting for its adoption. Back in 2018, a poll was conducted, during which they spoke in favor of changing the borders, - said Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Alexander Efremov.

The regions exchanged equal territories, their areas did not change. As a result, the Bryansk region received 22.3 hectares of forest, and the Kaluga region received a piece of land with a road to the village of Zheltyanka, Khvastovichsky district.

Efremov also noted that the agreement signed by the governors of the two regions was approved at the end of last year by the Legislative Assembly of the Kaluga Region and the Bryansk Regional Duma.
