US says Russia is preparing 'limited' invasion of Ukraine

The former commander of ground forces in Europe, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, said on the air of the 60 Minutes program on the Rossiya 1 TV channel that Russia would not carry out a large-scale, but a "limited attack" on Ukraine along the border.

According to him, "it is very likely that the Russian army will organize another attack in the next few months."

Hodges expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the course of the Kremlin and the Russian Federation is "opaque" and Moscow's efforts to de-escalate the situation are invisible.

On February 11, a meeting was held in Moscow between Russian and British Defense Ministers Sergei Shoigu and Ben Wallace. Shoigu urged the West to stop "stuffing" Ukraine with weapons.

Also, the Russian military department reported, issues of international security were discussed by the Chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov and the head of the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces Mark Milli.

Since the fall of last year, the Western media, as well as in Ukraine, have been claiming that Russia is allegedly preparing a “large-scale invasion” of Ukraine. In Moscow, such allegations have been repeatedly rejected. Earlier, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that Russia's "invasion" of Ukraine would take place in mid-January-February 2022. American media later reported that some officials in Russia were expressing concern about the complexity and cost of an "invasion" of Ukraine, so the "invasion" was being postponed.
