In Estonia, complete losers will be awarded a school leaving certificate

In Estonia, even complete losers at the end of school will be awarded a full-fledged certificate of graduation. To this end, the Estonian Ministry of Education and Science plans to replace the traditional five-point system with a hundred-point system. According to the new rules, those who received 25 points in the final exam, which corresponds to the current deuce, will also be solemnly awarded a certificate of school education. This was reported by the Estonian television program Actual Camera.

"Our plan is to make the assessment of knowledge more accurate. Transparent and comparable assessment points will give us a more detailed idea of how much knowledge a graduate of a basic school has. Now, instead of three positive assessments, we plan to consider exam results on a hundred-point scale," said the head Department of policy in the field of general education of the Ministry of Education Ülle Matsin.

But in reality, if the plan of the Estonian Ministry of Education and Science is implemented, then it will be possible not to study at all in order to obtain a certificate of school education. The main thing is to attend the final exams and pass the examination form with your last name to the commission.

True, social networks have already begun to joke about what to do if a student cannot write his last name due to total illiteracy. Will he get a high school diploma too?

Not all teachers support the planned innovations. The head teacher of the Tallinn Real Gymnasium Madis Somelar does not agree with the cancellation of the passing score. "If a student is not told at home that education is a value, if, as we know, a third of mathematics teachers do not meet their qualifications, then a student who graduates from such a school should learn about poor education from the state. And also that mistakes follow fix," he said.
