The National Security Bureau of Poland announced the arrival of 2,500 American soldiers in the country as a reinforcement of the eastern flank of NATO, Polskie Radio reports, citing the head of the department, Pavel Solokh.

“We rely on American soldiers, and such negotiations have been held. The Americans have already declared the other day the transfer of more than 8-8.5 thousand soldiers for the whole of Eastern Europe. It looks like we will have about 2.5 thousand additional soldiers, ”Solokh said on the air.

At the moment, up to 5.5 thousand American troops are already in Poland.

Earlier, Bulgarian Defense Minister Stefan Yanev refused to send troops to participate in operations in Ukraine.

Since the fall of last year, Western media have been reporting that Russia is preparing an “invasion” of Ukraine. The U.S. has pointed to an alleged increase in Russian forces near the Ukrainian border and has since threatened the Russian Federation with new sanctions. The Kremlin has more than once directly denied any plans to attack Ukraine, on the contrary, pointing to the possible preparation of a military operation in the Donbass by Kiev.
