Italians urged to leave Ukraine

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio recommended that the country's citizens leave Ukraine and announced the return of the "non-essential staff" of the Italian embassy in Kiev to their homeland. He wrote about it on Facebook.

“I chaired a meeting of the crisis center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dedicated to the situation in Ukraine. As a precaution, we have decided to advise all Italian citizens in Ukraine to return to their homeland by commercial transport and postpone travel to this country. We have also decided to return all non-essential staff of our embassy in Kiev, which operates as usual, ”the publication says.

The head of the Foreign Ministry noted that Rome was in favor of resolving tensions around Ukraine through diplomatic means, and called for Moscow to seek "concrete signals of detente."

Earlier in Ukraine, flags were lowered from the building of the British Embassy. London also partially evacuated the staff of the diplomatic mission in Kiev.
