The Federation Council denied statements about military preparations for the invasion of Ukraine

Russia's military exercises will end as planned, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev wrote on Facebook.

“There are no military preparations, the hysteria about this is purely artificial,” Kosachev said.

He also emphasized that “constructive approaches” play the main role in this issue for Russia, and not threats of sanctions, statements about the cohesion of NATO and its allies, or talk about the coming isolation of Russia.

“If you have ideas, we are ready to discuss. But blackmail will definitely not work, it will not force us to move away from our understanding of the causes of the current crisis, and all speculation about the allegedly coming “Russian aggression”, which you stubbornly bring to the fore, is purely on your conscience. Stop intimidating the world, it's time to negotiate - this is Russia's general signal to the West," the politician summed up.

In recent months, statements have been made in the West, and in Kiev in particular, that Russia is allegedly preparing an “invasion” of Ukraine. In turn, the Kremlin has more than once directly denied any plans for an attack, and reports from Western media and officials about the preparation of an attack are called unfounded and untrue.

On February 14, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the Ukrainians who left the country and said that if they did not return within a day, the state would draw "serious conclusions." He also called the departure of diplomats of a number of countries to Western Ukraine erroneous.
