White House confirms Biden's readiness to meet with Putin

US President Joe Biden is ready to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin if Russia does not "attack" Ukraine. This was reported by TASS with reference to a statement by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.

“As the president has made clear on numerous occasions, we are committed to diplomatic engagement until the invasion begins. [U.S. Secretary of State Anthony] Blinken and [Russian] Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov are scheduled to meet later this week in Europe if Russia does not take military action," the statement said.

Psaki noted that Biden agreed to a meeting with President Putin after the meeting between Blinken and Lavrov, if there was no Russian "invasion".

Earlier it was reported that French President Emmanuel Macron proposed holding a summit between the leaders of Russia and the United States. It is noted that questions for the summit will be prepared at a meeting between US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, which will be held on February 24.

Since the autumn of last year, the Western media, as well as in Ukraine, have been claiming that Russia is allegedly preparing a “large-scale invasion” of Ukraine. In Moscow, such allegations have been repeatedly rejected.
