Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - Presidents of Russia Vladimir Putin and Israel Yitzhak Herzog had a telephone conversation during which they discussed issues of bilateral cooperation. During the conversation, the positive role of Jews in the life of Russia was emphasized, the Kremlin press service reported.

“They spoke about the decisive contribution of the Red Army to the Victory over Nazism and the salvation of the Jewish people from extermination during the Great Patriotic War, as well as the positive role of Jews in the social and cultural life of Russia,” the message says.

The interlocutors also considered the problems of functioning in Russia of an organization representing the interests of the Jewish agency Sokhnut, which is engaged in assistance in the resettlement of Jews to Israel.

Contacts on this issue will be continued through the relevant departments of both countries.
