Japanese Prime Minister: Europe is in a terrible situation without Russian gas

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The situation around Ukraine puts Europe, which has relied on stable gas supplies from Russia for decades, in a "terrible situation," Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on NHK January 8.

“The energy situation is seriously changing around the world. In particular, since last year there has been a shortage of various energy resources,” he said.

According to Kishida, this situation also leads to a change in the structure of production.

“Europe has been thinking about life and production for decades, based on stable and cheap energy supplies from Russia. However, the Russian invasion of Ukraine has fundamentally changed the picture of the future, the situation has become terrible,” said Kishida.

He claims that Russia and some other countries are "using energy as a weapon." Moscow rejects this thesis and claims that the West is using economic weapons against Russia.

Kishida noted that Japan, which is dependent on energy imports due to geographical features, needs to use all available opportunities, including renewable and nuclear energy.
