Kabul is trying to solve the problem of “internally displaced Afghans”

Asia (bbabo.net), - Kabul Municipality announced the resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their places of original residence. TOLO news reports about this today, April 18.

Nematullah Barakzai, a spokesman for the Kabul Municipality, says these people are now living on municipal land and, in agreement with the Ministry of Refugees and Returnees, the resettlement process is scheduled to begin next week.

At the same time, some Afghans admit that they have nowhere to go and ask the Kabul municipality to provide them with a specific place to live.

Sanaullah, a forced migrant, in a conversation with TOLOnews said:

“I didn’t come here for a good life! There are no conditions in the province. If they were, we wouldn’t come.”

Another Afghan, Hayatullah, said:

“The Kabul municipality is telling us to get out, but how can we return to our provinces if now there is no space or even land there.”

Earlier, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that Afghanistan, with almost 6.3 million internally displaced people, ranks second in the world in terms of the number of IDPs. All these people were forced to leave their places of residence due to natural disasters (earthquakes and floods that plague Afghanistan) and military operations.
