Seoul spoke out about Ukraine's efforts to cancel the Bolshoi Theater ballet tour

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - The South Korean Foreign Ministry refused to comment on the cancellation of the tour of the Bolshoi Theater ballet dancers and related statements by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

“As far as we know, the decision to cancel was made at the private level,” the department told RIA Novosti.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry also did not comment on the statements of representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who stated that the gala concert of the Bolshoi Theater ballet, as well as the performance of the Russian prima ballerina Svetlana Zakharova, would not take place “thanks to the efforts” of the Ukrainian Embassy in Seoul and the support of “international partners”.

The Russian Embassy in Seoul noted that the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was “manipulating the facts”: there were no plans for Bolshoi Theater tours in South Korea this year; they were talking about organizing concerts by Russian ballet masters as part of a purely commercial project of the South Korean company Ballet & Model, which is being implemented without the participation of government bodies of the two countries.

“We will certainly be forced to take into account the current trend in our future line of cooperation with the Republic of Korea, including in the cultural area. It will be built on the principle of reciprocity,” the department emphasized.

As bbabo.net reported, two major events with the participation of Russian ballet dancers were canceled in South Korea.

Thus, in March it became known that the organizers refused performances by the Bolshoi Theater prima, People's Artist of Russia Svetlana Zakharova. According to the ballerina herself, her performances were canceled at the level of the South Korean Ministry of Culture. Zakharova was scheduled to present her ballet Modanse about the life of Coco Chanel April 17-21 at the Seoul Arts Center. However, information about the performance was removed from the center’s website, and the organizers announced the cancellation of the Russian ballerina’s tour.

Later, information appeared about the cancellation of the gala concerts of the Bolshoi Theater ballet dancers in the Seoul concert hall Sejong Center.
