Last week, Electronic Arts reported to investors on its earnings, which showed the earnings of the company, as well as the growth rate of the user base. The failed Battlefield 2042 was not included in this report, but the game was not without discussion. The head of the company, Andrew Wilson, admitted for the first time that Battlefield 2042 has problems.
Recently, a petition appeared on Change.org calling on EA and DICE, the developers of the game controlled by it, to return the money. The petition notes that the game is a form of mockery of the players, and says:
“Signing this petition will take you one step closer to a refund for Battlefield 2042. Let's say this petition gets 50,000 signatures or more. In this case, one of the best class action lawyers in the country is ready to take on our case against EA."
As of this writing, the petition has over 60,000 signatures. It is addressed to developers, Microsoft and Sony, the Steam store and the US Federal Trade Service.
I would like to remind you that the game at the start had serious problems that have not been fixed so far. Judging by the release of patches, the developers do not really know how to solve them. And given the opinions of various insiders familiar with the inner workings of DICE and EA, the creators of the game do not know what to do with it at all.
Users who have already bought the game are trying to get their money back through a petition. At this time, digital distribution stores for Battlefield 2042 have now introduced discounts.
In the PlayStation Store until February 17, for the version of the game on PS4 and PS5 they ask for 3574 rubles, for the gold edition - 5624 rubles, and for the ultimate - 7199 rubles. These are discount prices.
Naturally, the last two versions are with season passes, however, it is not clear when this season will begin, since its development was postponed to the summer. Note that now at the PlayStation Store sale for PS4 you can buy Redemption 2 for 1599 rubles, GTA 5 for 1169 rubles, and God of War 2018 for 999 rubles. Yes, these are not new games, and the console of the last generation, but the stability of these games, the availability of content and the price for all three (which is almost equal to the cost of the new Battlefield) will bring more joy and satisfaction than the current state of Battlefield 2042.
On Steam, the game also received discounts, however, until February 11th. For the regular edition they ask for 2029 rubles, for the gold edition - 3959 rubles, and for the ultimate edition - 5389 rubles. This is cheaper than in the PlayStation Store.
The Xbox store did almost no discounts. The discount is only available if you buy games with an EA Play subscription. The simplest edition, and on Xbox One, will cost $59.99 (approximately 4,443 rubles), and the ultimate edition will cost $119.99 (approximately 8,961 rubles).
Once again, I would like to recall the rhetoric of some heads of gaming companies about the rising cost of development, which leads to an increase in the cost of games.
