Chinese automakers have opened a record number of car dealerships in 2021 in Russia. Experts predict that this year their number will increase by another 10-12%.
The top five car brands that have opened the most car dealerships in Russia are four Chinese. Chery is in the lead, having opened 37 new dealerships. Exeed has 25 centers, and they are located, as a rule, in the same building as the Chery salons.
FAW opened two dozen showrooms, Haval increased the number of dealerships by 19, Geely added 12 car dealerships, and Changan opened 10 more. Bankavto experts, who analyzed the statistics of AutoBusinessReview, noted that the active development of Chinese car retail chains is certainly associated with the rapid growth of their sales.
To date, official dealers of Chinese cars make up one fifth of the entire network in the Russian Federation - there are already 715 of them, that is, 19.7%. Bankavto believes that in 2022 this number will reach 800, and the total share of the “Chinese” in the new car market will be 14-16%.
Chery already has 20 car dealers in Moscow, and Haval is close to 20. 22.3% of official dealers already work with Chinese brands, and another 24.5% are considering this option.
