From October 1, 2022, the Central Bank allowed bank customers to set a limit or ban on online transactions

The Central Bank of the Russian Federation issued an instruction according to which, from October 1, 2022, bank customers will be able to voluntarily set a limit or ban on online transactions and certain services. This instruction will be another measure of protection against fraudsters.

For example, customers will be able to set a ban on transfers, online lending, or all transactions. In order to receive this service, it is enough to write an application to your bank, the service is absolutely free. In addition, the client of the bank can cancel the ban or change the parameters of online transactions at any time without restrictions.

“Such a proactive measure is especially relevant for people most exposed to cyber fraud, such as senior citizens. If a ban on remote transactions has been set, then fraudsters will not be able to get an online loan or steal your money, even if they were able to access your online banking.

Also, from October 1, 2022, banks will be required to identify all devices from which a client makes online transactions by confirming his phone number and email address.
