Docking Station Released That Turns Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 Into a Router

Seeed Studio has unveiled a device called the Raspberry Pi Router Board, which allows you to create a full-fledged router based on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4. The novelty is equipped with HDMI and USB ports, a microSD card reader, a 40-pin GPIO kit and a tiny OLED display.

The price of such a system is $ 55, although sales have not yet started. The docking station allows you to use various additional Raspberry Pi HAT modules, which will, for example, add support for Power over Ethernet (PoE) - this is a technology for supplying power through one of the network cables.

Note that the Ethernet controller is based on the RTL811E chip, and the display is based on an OLED matrix. Its diagonal is 0.91 inches. The novelty is compatible with Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu Server and OpenWrt, which allows you to customize the system as you wish.

The Raspberry Pis Compute Module 4 is equipped with a Broadcom BCM2711 processor with four ARM Cortex-A72 cores at 1.5 GHz. There are versions with 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB or 8 GB of RAM and with 16 GB or 32 GB of flash memory. Price - from 35 to more than 100 dollars.
