The omicron strain of coronavirus in Moscow accounts for up to 30% of all infections. This was told by the director of the Gamaleya Center Alexander Gintsburg, RIA Novosti reports.

“Primary data obtained jointly with the Moscow Department of Health, where our employees are also involved in this work, indicate that on the first day of this week, up to 30% of strains were already circulating in the Omicron population,” Gunzburg said.

According to the latest data, 698 cases of infection with the Omicron coronavirus strain were detected in Russia over the past day, most of which were recorded in the capital. In total, there were 4,008 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Moscow during this period.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that at the moment there is no answer to the question of whether there is a bar for the incidence of coronavirus, but it is clear that there is a high risk of infections, including micron.
