Russia - Doctor Myasnikov told what to do when infected with omicron

Russia (bbabo.net), - Due to the high contagiousness of "omicron", the number of infected people will grow, but in most cases, the disease clinically proceeds as a banal ARVI. How to help yourself at home and in what cases you need to see a doctor, said the famous doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov.

“Most likely, almost everyone will fall ill with the omicron: someone is asymptomatic, someone in the form of a mild cold,” said Dr. Myasnikov in his FAN column.

In the case of a mild infection, according to the doctor, you can limit yourself to the usual home cold measures. “If you have symptoms of a common cold, we are treated at home with the usual ones, including folk remedies, especially since SARS, as a rule, pass quite quickly even without treatment,” Myasnikov says. “Our mothers and grandmothers knew very well how to treat acute respiratory infections, which we all got sick in childhood. Bed rest, ventilation, plenty of warm drinks, broths and other light foods - these are the main helpers for colds. "

At the same time, in order to avoid complications, it is necessary, if necessary, not to hesitate in seeking medical help. Alexander Myasnikov listed the main reasons for concern and seeking medical attention:

- if you are worried about shortness of breath, especially with light exertion or at rest;

- if the temperature stays above 38 degrees all the time, and it cannot be brought down by antipyretics;

- if inhibition, apathy, drowsiness, confusion of thoughts are noted;

- if there are symptoms of dehydration: dizziness, dry mouth, palpitations, infrequent urination;

- if the saturation is constantly below 94%.

"If you or your loved ones have any of these symptoms, in this case, immediate medical attention is required," the doctor emphasizes.

He also warned that antibiotics should not be taken without indications - they do not act on the virus, but addiction and further insensitivity to antibacterial drugs or side effects can be earned quite quickly.

In antiviral drugs, according to Myasnikov, with a mild course of the disease, there is also no need.

“What definitely should not be taken as self-medication for mild and moderate COVID-19, especially caused by the “omicron” strain, is the already mentioned antibiotics, as well as steroid hormones and blood thinners. Only a doctor can prescribe these drugs - strictly individually, according to rather limited indications," Myasnikov advises.

He also warned that the coronavirus will continue to mutate, more and more new strains will appear. At the same time, the last year of the pandemic, when vaccines against COVID-19 began to be widely used, showed that the vaccine saves lives with any strains.

“Hence the conclusion: get vaccinated and get revaccinated on time. Remember, it’s in your interests! And most importantly, preparing for the onset of the omicron, you don’t need to succumb to another panic, from which there is no benefit, but only harm,” Myasnikov concluded.
