At the end of 2021, the number of deaths in road traffic accidents decreased by 5.6%, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the capital said.

In total, almost 8.5 thousand road accidents were registered last year, in which 335 people died and 9.6 thousand were injured of varying severity.

The most frequent types of accidents in 2021 were vehicle collisions (3.96 thousand cases) and pedestrian collisions (2.84 thousand cases).

The main violations of traffic rules that caused harm to the life and health of road users were non-observance of the distance and order of travel, violation of the rules for passing pedestrian crossings and inconsistency of speed with specific conditions.

Earlier, the traffic police reminded of the responsibility for excessive tinting of cars and asked drivers if it was worth prohibiting driving with too tinted windows. In response, most users were in favor of allowing driving with tinted windows.
