The Dutch government has recommended that its citizens leave Ukraine "as soon as possible" due to the tense situation, the Dutch radio station BNR reports, citing the Dutch ambassador to Ukraine.
The corresponding statement was made by the country's ambassador to Kiev, Jennes de Mol. He emphasized that this was not about evacuation, but about a “voluntary choice” based on a strong argument.
It is noted that the Netherlands will transfer its diplomatic post from Kyiv to Lviv. There the Dutch can apply for the necessary documents and information.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden called on Americans to leave Ukraine "right now."
“It's not like we're dealing with a terrorist organization. [But] we are dealing with one of the largest armies in the world. This is completely different, and the situation can get out of control very quickly,” the American leader said.
He stressed that American troops would not be able to assist in the evacuation of US citizens, because under no circumstances would they be on Ukrainian territory.
In January, the US State Department allowed the evacuation of embassy staff from Kiev due to growing tensions around Ukraine, following these messages, other countries, in particular Germany and Great Britain, began to evacuate their diplomats.
