In Germany, the chancellor was called on at a meeting in Moscow to achieve the lifting of restrictions for Deutsche Welle

The German Journalists' Association appealed to Chancellor Olaf Scholz to insist on the immediate lifting of restrictions on the Deutsche Welle television and radio company during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I am asking you to use your cabinet powers to work with the Russian side to ensure that the suspension of Deutsche Welle is lifted immediately. In addition, the Russian authorities must immediately stop any attempts to prevent German correspondents in the country from carrying out their professional activities,” said Frank Uberall, chairman of the Association.

The organization urged to ensure the protection of the interests of German journalists on the territory of the Russian Federation. They noted that now all German media accredited in Russia must provide information about “their alleged economic dependence” on the German government by February 8.

Scholz visits Kiev on February 14 for a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The next day he will leave for Moscow on a working visit.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Germany could avoid further restrictions on the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle by providing conditions for the work of Russian journalists.
