Investigators of the Federal Security Service (FSB) demanded the arrest of a resident of the village of Plesetsk, Arkhangelsk region. This was reported by TASS with reference to the Lefortovo Court of Moscow, which received a petition with the election of a measure of restraint.

The reason for the arrest of the man was the suspicion of treason.

“The court received a petition from the investigation to select a preventive measure in the form of detention against a Russian citizen Ramiz Namazov, who is suspected of a crime under Art. 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Treason”),” the Moscow court explained.

The Lefortovo court did not provide details of the investigative actions.

A law enforcement source told the agency that the person involved in the investigation lived near the cosmodrome in Plesetsk.

Earlier in Primorye, a 70-year-old acoustic scientist was sentenced to 12 years for treason. The court also imposed a fine of 300 thousand rubles on the convict and restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year.

Also in 2021, a Russian was arrested in Sevastopol on suspicion of espionage.
