Russia - Resident of Saratov fined for making false calls to an ambulance

Russia (bbabo.net) - Police detained a hooligan who interfered with the work of an ambulance in Saratov for more than a week. The man called the "ambulance" and reported on accidents and injured people who needed to be rescued. The doctors were wasting their time while the real patients were waiting for their arrival.

Police officers identified the citizen who reported the accident at one of the shopping centers. On the phone, an unknown person said that as a result of the fall of an ice block, a 25-year-old boy was injured. The caller said the victim was in critical condition. The brigade immediately left on the call. Doctors spent 45 minutes trying to find the victim of the accident until they were finally convinced that they had been deceived.

The police found out that the call was made by a local resident born in 1993.

- The citizen was taken to the police department, a protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against the man. The court has already fined the hooligan a thousand rubles. Currently, he is being tested for involvement in similar offenses,” said Anastasia Zakharova, head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.

In total, as told in the regional Ministry of Health, over the past week, the ambulance received several dozen such calls. Only last Sunday, apparently, the same "joker" managed to call nine times. In most cases, the information that he reported did not arouse suspicion in the dispatcher; ambulance crews went to the indicated addresses.

All this happened when the ambulance workers are already working to the limit due to the increase in the incidence of coronavirus. At the same time, the punishment for such malefactors is quite mild. Under the Code of Administrative Offenses, a maximum fine of one and a half thousand rubles is provided for a knowingly false call to specialized services. True, the police believe that a hooligan can be held administratively liable for every call. In addition, a medical organization can apply to him with a civil lawsuit. According to unofficial data, one visit of an ambulance brigade costs five thousand rubles. So a lover of practical jokes can expect a lawsuit for a substantial amount. But the damage to the health of people who, because of such "jokes", did not arrive on time, is much more difficult to assess.
