A man married 14 women and lived at their expense

In India, in the state of Odisha, a man was arrested who married 14 times in 43 years and lived off his wives. The Daily Mail writes about it.

65-year-old Ramesh Chandra Swain tied the knot for the first time in 1979 and managed to acquire five children.

Since 2010, he began to "hunt" for divorced wealthy women, each of them presented himself with a new fictitious name.

All the wives lived in different states of India and were unaware of each other's existence.

Immediately after the wedding, the man began to demand money from his next wife and transfer property to him. Having achieved property, he disappeared.

The deception was revealed thanks to one of the wives. The teacher, whom Swain remarried, found messages from other women on his phone, contacted them and found out that he was also their husband. The teacher then contacted the police.

The amount that Swain managed to earn from the deceived women is still unknown. The fraudster was found to have five identification cards during his arrest. Under Indian law, he faces up to seven years in prison.

Earlier it was reported that in the United States, the leader of the Mormon polygamists, who is serving a life sentence for rape, was hospitalized.
