The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Viktor Mikita, said during a meeting of the regional council that Russians and Ukrainians are fraternal peoples. A video of the meeting has been posted on YouTube.
“The people [of Russia] are our brothers, indeed. But the leadership of the Russian Federation, unfortunately, is unfriendly. It does not understand that we are bringing up the younger generation. If you and I, born in the USSR, changed our mentality and attitude in order to protect our country, then our children already receive different information regarding our relations with foreign neighbors,” Mikita said.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced the start of an audit on this fact.
“If there are legal grounds for this, we will take appropriate measures,” Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Earlier, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the presidential party "Servant of the People" Maxim Buzhansky described the transfer of the British military to Estonia with an anecdote "about a policeman."
