Russia (bbabo.net) - In the Khabarovsk Territory, the first operation in the Far East to remove a tumor in a conscious patient was carried out. It was carried out by specialists from the Regional Clinical Hospital named after Professor Vladimirtsev (KKB No. 2) under the guidance of Moscow colleagues.

- We came to share our experience in removing a neoplasm in the temporal lobe of the brain, which is responsible for understanding speech. This tumor contributed to the seizures, - said Igor Trifonov, an assistant at the Department of Neurosurgery and Neuroresuscitation at the Clinical Medical Center of the Moscow State Medical and Dental University (MGMSU).

The patient was under local anesthesia, so that the surgeons could monitor his speech and changes in it. If during the operation to remove the tumor, the patient is unconscious, after it you can face an irreversible neurological deficit - a lack of speech.

Before that, to remove such tumors, the Far East had to fly to the central part of Russia.

Over the past 11 months, specialists from KKB No. 2 performed over 11 thousand operations, some of which were high-tech medical care. It is possible to do this, among other things, thanks to the new equipment purchased within the framework of the national project "Health" and under the program "Fight against cardiovascular diseases".
