The reason for the headache in the cold was explained to the Russians

Neurologist and neurophysiologist Alexander Budik explained why some people get headaches in the cold. Reported by radio Sputnik.

He noted that the headache that occurs in the cold depends on the sensitivity of the skin receptors.

“If a person goes outside and feels a headache with a sharp change in air temperature, this is not a formidable pathology. This is the body's reaction to temperature indicators. Receptors are located all over the scalp, with increased sensitivity they can be excessively irritated in the cold, so a headache can occur, ”said Budik.

To avoid this, the neurologist suggested wearing a hat.

Scientists have previously found that the occurrence of migraines in adulthood may be related to the level of hormones in the womb before birth.

The researchers examined data from 51,872 people who had participated in previous studies of the Swedish Twin Registry. It was the use of twins for research that made it possible to neutralize the influence of genes, and to highlight the role of prenatal conditions. However, the study lacks data on the age at which people began their first seizures, and the authors plan to correct this in future studies.
