We are talking about Briton John Ryder (30-5, 16 KOs), who the day before in London won a Candidates fight against American Daniel Jacobs (37-4, 30 KOs). Their 12-round confrontation ended in a split decision in favor of John.

He's pretty much set on plans for this year but I think if he wants to fight in the UK he has the perfect opponent," Hearn said. “I don’t see any other super middleweights in my country who have had such remarkable victories. John Ryder beat Daniel Jacobs and did it by giving his all in the ring. He was robbed by the judges more than once, and this time was very a close fight that could have ended in either direction, but he stuck to his line and achieved his goal.

Jacobs was losing to Golovkin and Alvarez, and now he's lost to John Ryder. Of course it's a huge win for John and I hope he gets to fight for the world title because he really deserves it."
