Biathlete Latypov tested positive for coronavirus

Russia (bbabo.net), - On the eve of the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof (Germany), one of the leading athletes of our men's national team Eduard Latypov tested positive for coronavirus. He is isolated from the team.

"Eduard Latypov's COVID-19 test was positive. He is isolated from the team in Oberhof. Eduard feels fine, the disease is asymptomatic. We wish him a speedy recovery!" - reported in the Telegram channel of the Russian Biathlon Union.

Latypov is having a successful season for himself. At the previous stages, as part of our men's team, he twice became the bronze medalist in the relay races, and in the French Annecy won silver in the sprint and in the pursuit. According to the results of the four stages already held, Eduard Latypov is in fifth place in the overall World Cup.

The starts in Oberhof will take place on January 7-9. The program includes sprints, pursuit races, mixed relay races in the "1 + 1" and "2 + 2" formats. Taking into account the absence of Latypov, the composition of the Russian national team looks like this: men - Alexander Loginov, Karim Khalili, Daniil Serokhvostov, Alexander Povarnitsyn, Anton Babikov, Maxim Tsvetkov; women - Christina Reztsova, Svetlana Mironova, Ulyana Nigmatullina (Kaisheva), Irina Kazakevich, Valeria Vasnetsova, Anastasia Shevchenko.
